After reading your selections for today, post your response here. What did you find most interesting about the readings and what aspects of screen printing are still unclear at this point?

Learning more about the complexities of layering and imagery that comes with the territory or screen printing was part inciteful, part nerve inducing. I think since so much of my artwork is line based will make layering and potential layering very interesting, I am just not sure how I will be using that perspective yet.
The part that I found the most interesting about printmaking is the versatility of the process. I originally thought printmaking was fairly limited to t-shirt design and poster-like size prints but from this reading the author spoke of the commercial possibilities such as billboards and it was striking to me the almost endless possibilities presented. The part that I found unclear dealt with some more of the technical process of the whole ordeal of making a print, more so just memorizing the proper process is what I am teetering with(the specifics).
I like the idea of using screen printing as a medium for communicating ideas through images to a vast audience. The speed and economy of screen printing makes it great for these uses. I am a big fan of Jose Posada and the Mexican muralists who followed in his foot steps, and the foundation of their work was the idea of communicating political messages to large groups of people through images. Screen printing definitely lends itself to this idea. I am still unsure about how dark rooms will come into play and which chemicals we will be using, but I'm excited to explore this term!
