This reading suggests that taking the steps of creating your own studio and getting your work out there are productive ways to move towards a career as an artist. From there you need to develope a sense of growth and sustainability. Having this lifestyle you pracitically create for yourself is both liberating and scary. In doing this you have the security of being your own boss, unless you become famous, and creating your own work hours, however you do not have the security of finances, and income coming in regularly. So this is a bit of a Catch 22, but one that is worth it if its so desired.
Start with manageable amounts of work, specifically choosing ones you really enjoy working with for it will help build your resume and will lead to quality work. This quality work will keep business coming and allow their company to grow. This job seems to offer the luxury of choice in work, for to some degree you really are your own boss unless you sign with a studio!
I believe the article suggests that anyone possessing a drive or passion for incessant manifestation of his artistic inner thought will lead a happy and possibly successful (though indefinitely financially reassuring) life of the average 21st century artist.
(Sorry that is only one sentence. I was trying to say something that might still be relevant without being repetitive of what people said on time.)
